Many homes have chimneys even if they are no longer used for their original purposes.  It is easy to forget about them because they aren’t in constant use, but the weather can have an impact on them over time.  That means you may need chimney work to restore or repair them and ensure they don’t become a weak spot on your roof.

Our chimney maintenance services involve assessing the condition of your chimney and what work may be needed to restore it.  One of the top problems can be the mortar between the bricks wearing away and repointing being needed.  Sometimes, growth of weeds or moss can break away the mortar or even damage the bricks and this can lead to gaps that water can get through – and damp problems.

The brickwork itself can be damaged over time, especially due to debris striking it in high winds.  So, some of the bricks may need replacing or repairing to ensure the chimney is weatherproof. 

Another common problem with the chimney can include the lead flashing which binds it to the surrounding chimney parts.  Lead is tough stuff with a long lifespan, but it can be damaged or need replacing.  We can look at this and replace if needed.

Finally, if you have redundant aerials or satellite dishes, we can remove these and repair where fixings were as they can be a potential weakness in the chimney, prone to damage in high winds.
